Developed in line with ACME’s design guidelines, the project champions sustainability and celebrates transparency in food production, openly showcasing a rooftop farm where salad will be grown for sale in store and for distribution to up to 700 other REWE supermarkets.

The modular timber used in the supermarket's construction, comprises 42 columns with capitals made of stacked timber forming the supporting structure and creating a vaulted structure inside. Daylight floods into the market hall through a large glazed entrance façade and high level horizontal windows around the sides.

The timber elements have standard dimensions so they can be dismantled and reused without being recycled. This highly visible modular timber structure forms the main element of a new architectural identity for REWE.
