Muslim Academy is a place for education, cultural exchange and insight into Islamic history. A powerful arch structure anchors the building, with arches and vaults clad in Heidelberg sandstone, in red hue characteristic of the local cityscape.
The Academy is located on the western side of the city and is part of a larger masterplan redevelopment project. The competition was for the preliminary design of a new academy building and the residential blocks adjacent to the site.
Acting as a gateway to the masterplan from the west, the academy invites you to come and explore. Primarily a place for education, cultural exchange and insight into Islamic history, the design gives the ground floor of the academy and its most accessible program to the people of Heidelberg.
